The Idea:
Set up window displays for stores, malls and other venues.
How it Works:
Store owners know how important their visual first impression is, but many don't know anything about design concepts or how to make their window appeal to passers-by. A Window Display Designer markets their services to these busy shop managers and sets up the entire window display, including signage, product placement in the window and the development of an attractive "scene" that will attract customers into the store. Approach store owners with a portfolio of photographs of store windows you have designed. Some creative ideas include painting on the windows, developing seasonal scenes or providing your own unique mannequins to draw customer interest. Some window designers specialize in holiday designs or special events such as sports season or arts events in the community.
How Much Can You Make:
Successful Window Designers can make thousands of dollars per window. Some market their services to major companies and design themes that will be used at all a company’s stores across the country, earning them hundreds or thousands of dollars for each store where their single design is used.
