Digitizing Old Photos (or Videos)- Gig Profile

The Idea:

Scan and convert old photos and video to newer digital media.

How it Works:

Many people have stacks of old photos stored in boxes and film or videotapes of their children growing up. If you are familiar with scanning and converting technology you could develop a business changing these old formats into digital storage. You'll need to have a high-speed scanner, like the HP ScanJet 5500C - Flatbed scanner to convert paper photographs to digital form, and some basic photo organization software such as VueScan. For added services, you can make old photographs into screensavers, create digital photo albums, upload photos online for customers to show their friends or add electronic scrapbooking to your services.

How Much Can You Make:

Scanners generally charge 5-50 cents per item, but this can add up quick when people want you to digitize an entire lifetime's worth of photos.
