Pet Photographer - Gig Profile

The Idea:

Put your photography skills to use taking portraits of pampered pets.

How it Works:

Develop a portfolio of pet photos using your own or your friends' pets. Try to include a good mix of cats, dogs and more unusual animal companions. If you can develop a talent for capturing the emotions of animals on film, you could be in demand. Sell your services through pet magazines and ads at local pet stores and vet offices. You can garner even more business by offering to create products with the photographs you take, like a calendar, screensaver or poster featuring your client's pets. Local copy shops can help you make these kinds of products from the photographs you take or you can learn to do it yourself through desktop publishing or online ordering systems.

How Much Can You Make:

You can expect to earn $100-500 per client for pet portraiture once you are established. However, the lower end is common when arranging your services through a groomer or pet show where you will have multiple clients throughout a single day, raising your per-hour income (since you only have to travel there and set up once.)
