The Idea:
Pose for artists creating their latest masterpiece.
How it Works:
You don't have to be beautiful or even in great shape to be a life model, but you do have to be willing to bare it all and sit motionless for up to an hour. Life models should be able to strike and hold a variety of poses without shifting position while the artists are drawing or painting. Most life drawing and painting is done with nude models, so you have to be comfortable taking your clothes off to do this job. Generally, though, the artists will be more concerned with capturing the curve of your chin or the angle of your elbow just right than gawking at you. Sometimes life models work clothed in particular costumes, such as Renaissance style or dressed as superheroes in order for the artists to become familiar with drawing draped and stretched fabric. Life models work for college art departments or private art schools or organizations.
