The Idea:
Draw or paint people's homes or businesses for cash.
How it Works:
If you have artistic skills and patience, contact local residents and businesses who own historic structures in your town and offer to draw their building for them. Point out that your architectural drawings can be hung in waiting rooms or used in promotional materials to emphasize the historic nature of their business. Part of being a successful architectural artist is being able to capture the emotions of a place. People will pay you to portray how they feel about their home or business through the shading and details you capture. Ask for photos of the building in different seasons or light conditions- or take your own- to help you decide what aspects to emphasize or downplay in your artistic rendering. Another option is to provide architectural drawings for architecture firms or real estate companies, drawing buildings and floor plans for these companies to use in their promotional materials. You can also make money drawing or painting portraits of famous structures or city skylines and selling them to locals or tourists.
How Much Can You Make:
Expect to charge $250 to $2,500 per architectural portrait.
